Sometimes You Need To Put on The Blinders & Create From The Heart

I declare a moratorium on courses to accelerate.
I declare a respite from the offers of my inbox.
I do need a breather from the flavours of temptation.
I declare a full time out from external siren songs.

I've never looked within & led with heart for next steps.
I've never fully owned the knowledge I possess.
I've never felt the depths of my abilities.
To let go of the fear of missing out & breathe.

I declare a moratorium on courses to accelerate.
I declare a respite from the offers of my inbox.
I do need a breather from the flavours of temptation.
I declare a full time out from external siren songs.

I've never felt legit just figuring it out, stumbling towards success.
I've never felt enough just as I am.

I declare a moratorium on courses to accelerate.
I declare a respite from the offers of my inbox.
I do need a breather from the flavours of temptation.
I declare a full time out from external siren songs.

I've never accepted my journey as perfect, made just for me.
To let go of sideways glances and breathe.

I declare a moratorium on courses to accelerate.
I declare a respite from the offers of my inbox.
I do need a breather from the flavours of temptation.
I declare a full time out from external siren songs.

Inhale, exhale.
Put on my blinders.
And uncover the work of my heart.
Bring it to the light.
Rise within so I can rise without.

A note about the above poem.  It was inspired by Alanis Morissette's song - Moratorium.  I love her work.  If you're not familiar with her or haven't listened beyond the iconic Jagged Little Pill album, do yourself a favour & rediscover this amazing woman.

Also, this is not about regret or buyer's remorse.  I have invested in myself & my biz this year - repeatedly - & I have taken some of the most amazing, perspective-altering, life-changing courses.  Seriously, I have very few regrets (there's always that one ;).

If you find a course that perfectly aligns with what you're focused on creating & a teacher that you love & trust.  By all means - jump!

But I also think we get trapped by FOMO (fear of missing out) far more often than we care to admit.  I think we buy into the hype and the glitter and convince ourselves *this* one will be the one that makes all the difference.

That might be true.

But it might also be true that it's a lack of confidence.  That you keep telling yourself, "When I learn [listbuilding, copywriting, social media, design] I'll be unstoppable."

Yes, your business needs all of those things but if you let any one element get in your way.  If you let it stop you from moving forward, making sales, & connecting with people.  Then it's not because you haven't found the right course - it's because you haven't found your confidence.

And you can't buy confidence for $199.

Don't forget all the amazing skills & abilities you bring to the table.  The rest is figure-out-able with or without a course.  Trial & error, mad scientist experimentation or looking deep within to show up in business in a way that feels good.

For me, I'm taking a break from the external voices.  I'm going to work through the last course I signed up for and I'm stoked because it's the right course from the right teacher at the right time to keep me on track for what I'm creating next.  The next evolution of Heartlines (stay tuned!).

But no more courses for the next 3 months (minimum).  I feel confident I have access to everything I need both inside & out & it's time to focus on creation.

Do you ever feel like fear of missing out pulls you towards things that are more distracting than helpful?  Are you with me?  Raise your hand if you want to take a break and start believing in yourself?
