The Agony & the Ecstasy of Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes
I couldn't help the David Bowie reference. Forgive me or don't or just go listen to some 70s music.
Your business is constantly changing. Perhaps evolving is a better word. Your business is constantly evolving.
You've got a flood of new creative ideas, things you want to try or add on or take away. Maybe you want to move in a new direction or expand in a direction you're already moving. Maybe your ideal client has shifted and now you need to woo some new peeps.
Every business is constantly evolving.
Stagnation is the kiss of death because it means you're no longer worth paying attention to.
You also want your brand to stay recognisable. You want it to feel the same. You want certain things (like your core message) to remain unshakable even while you're movin' & groovin' & experimenting to your heart's content.
That's why it's vital to build a brand (not just a business).
What's the difference??
Your business is what you do.
Your brand is what you represent. It's what you stand for. It's your flag jammed in the proverbial ground that says "This is what matters most to me". Every offer, every product, every service is built around that core message. That IDEA. It's bigger than what you do. It's bigger than who you are. And it gives you enough wiggle room that no matter how you want to play with your business your brand identity will remain the same.
Which means your customers will be along for your creative/ mad scientist experimentation because it still FEELS like you. Same voice. Same style. Same values.
So you go from being known as the crazy, incoherent entrepreneur who can't decide what she's doing and what happens next month is anyone's guess. To the entrepreneur known for always having fresh ideas and a meaningful brand that stands for something.
I love this sh*t. This is what I do. I help amazing women entrepreneurs define their brand identity & build messaging that helps them stand out.
So you can change & stay the same at the same time. ;)
